All our jolly sailors had a fantastic day on their recent sailing expedition along the River Hamble, onto the Solent and over to the Ise of Wight. It was a lovely morning to arrive at such an ideal location. Hamble was one of the filming locations for Howards Way.
We sat on the deck and breakfasted on bacon rolls, pastries, Early Grey Tea and Fresh Coffee whilst Dave, the skipper, accompanied by the lovely first mate Vicky completed their checks, crew briefing and issued life jackets.
As it was the last day of Cowes week, the Solent was alive with roughly 400 boats on the as part of a special Queen's Jubilee event. The crew also had the excitement of passing Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal as she visited Cowes on HMS Severn - and even had the opportunity to wave to her. To add to the day's excitement, the crew had the fun of seeing spitfires perform some excellent aerobatics overhead.
The yacht returned to Hamble at 5 pm, and we had a debrief of the days sailing on the deck accompanied by some Prosecco and nibbles.
